SWE Officer Candidates
President
Isabel Chavarin
“Hi, my name is Isabel and I am currently the president for the Society of Women Engineers. I have been in SWE since my freshman year as a Shadow, then last year I advanced to social media chair, and I’m currently president. With being president I have had the honor to host one of the biggest events with SWE: Evening with Industry. This event was an eye opener of all the hard work that goes into the event by the committees and officers. I want to improve the efficiency and organization of this event with my experience in this position. Being president has taught me so much with leadership, time management, and professionalism. Being accustomed to these responsibilities and positions already, inspires me to continue to bring a community to WSU women in VCEA college, and work on improving and advancing EWI.”
Sofia Keldsen
“Hi, I’m Sofia, a Civil Engineering student at WSU. I’ve been actively involved with SWE since my freshman year, including shadowing our former president through the SWE Shadow program last spring. This year, I’ve served as Activities Coordinator, planning all general meetings and building strong connections with other student organizations. As I enter my final full year at WSU, I would be honored to continue serving this club as your president.”
Vice President
Rylee Gannon
“Hello! My name is Rylee Gannon and I am currently the Vice President of SWE. I have learned a lot this past year and had lots of fun, so I am running for re-election and hope to apply all this knowledge/experience to improving the club as a whole and especially next year’s KSED. I really enjoy interacting and working closely with other women in engineering, and want to make the club feel as welcoming as possible so that everyone can reap all the benefits that SWE has to offer.”
Seo Young baek
“I am currently shadowing the current secretary. I learned a lot from her and would be able to help out SWE. Although it is from high school, I have experience being in a leadership position. I get things done right and I will fit in the position.”
Treasurer
Hailey Boileau
“As the current Treasurer of the Society of Women Engineers, I have successfully managed our budget, ensured financial transparency, and supported our chapter’s goals. Previously, as SWEster Coordinator during my sophomore year, I contributed to mentorship and community among our members. With my experience in both roles, I am committed to strengthening our organization through responsible financial supervision and meaningful member engagement. I would love the opportunity to continue serving SWE and expanding our impact.”
Zoe Nguyen
“I believe in a flow of integration within the community inside and out of the classroom. Being involved with SWE has provided and created equal opportunities within engineering. Within my two years at WSU, I have been involved as a regular club member as well as a committee chair member for KSED2023, KSED2024, and EWI2023. Helping out with the major events for SWE was so rewarding in turn for the work that I put in. Other relevant prior experience I have is a professional background in project management as well as bookkeeping, specifically money management and working within timelines. “
Activities Coordinator
Sofia Keldsen
“I’ve been a part of SWE since the beginning of my freshman year and I was a SWE Shadow under our president, Chloe. As a Shadow I helped out with our recent WiSTEM week events as well as our dog toy making event. With the officer position, I would love the chance to give back to the club that has given me so many opportunities. “
Secretary
Jacqueline Taylor
“My name is Jacqueline and I’m a senior civil engineering major. I was the secretary last year and I am excited to run again! In addition to sending out the weekly newsletter, taking meeting notes, and sending out reminder emails, I did a lot of extra work for SWE to help our club in outreach and improve our structure. I’ve facilitated multiple amendments to our constitution to make position workloads more equal, written an officer guidebook, and created a LinkedIn group for SWE. I also had the opportunity to present about SWE to the VCEA junior faculty to encourage collaboration and support from the faculty for women in engineering.”

Industry Mentor Coordinator
Julia Lee
“Hi, I’m Julia, a sophomore in computer science. I’m excited to run for the position of Industry Mentor Coordinator. Through my involvement in SWE, where I served on the registration committee for industry night and the operation/setup committee for KSED, I’ve gained valuable experience in event coordination and networking. I would be happy to connect students with mentors who can guide them in their career paths.”
SWEster Program Coordinator
Haley Boileau
Social Media Chair
Zoe Nguyen
“I have loved SWE since my first SWE Tea freshman year. Following, I have been an active general member participating as a KSED & EWI committee chair, prior to my year on cabinet board as both fundraising chair & social media chair. SWE is a community that has continued to provide a common & safe space for all Women in Engineering at WSU. Through my years at WSU, SWE has meant so much & I want to make meaningful to other people as well!”
Fundraising Chair
Betty Mitchell
“Hi I’m Betty and I’m a junior majoring in civil engineering. I’m shadowing the current fundraising officer this semester, so I know a little about what I would be doing already. I’ve also been the vice president for the winter guard sports club this year. In that position, I manage fundraising and plan events/practices with the other officers.”
GradSWE Chair
Suzanne Gelston
“SWE has been an amazing part of my undergraduate journey, and I want to continue to connect and support the SWE community. I was the SWEster Coordinator 2022-23 so I have experience working with SWE leadership. One of my favorite moments in SWE was when I was the outreach committee chair in 2021-22 and hosted a SWE lab tour for local girl scouts. I enjoy SWE’s mission and events and I’m excited to support the organization in the role of GradSWE chair.”
