SWE Officer Candidates

President

Isabel Chavarin

“Hello, my name is Isabel, I am a second-year chemical engineering major. I have been a part of SWE since the spring of 2023 with the KSED committee chair and serve as the current social media chair for the 2023-2024 school year. I am passionate about creating a safe and uplifting community for women in the Voiland college; specifically in engineering. I want others to find the community and place within WSU like I have with SWE. As the club president, my goal is to continue to support, lead, and advocate for everyone in engineering regardless of their background.”

Vice President

Rylee Gannon

“Hello! My name is Rylee Gannon and I am currently the Vice President of SWE. I have learned a lot this past year and had lots of fun, so I am running for re-election and hope to apply all this knowledge/experience to improving the club as a whole and especially next year’s KSED. I really enjoy interacting and working closely with other women in engineering, and want to make the club feel as welcoming as possible so that everyone can reap all the benefits that SWE has to offer.”

Sondos Alkhaldi

“As a passionate advocate for women in engineering and a dedicated member of the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) at Washington State University Pullman, I am thrilled to announce my candidacy for the position of Vice President. My commitment to advancing the goals of SWE is demonstrated through my active involvement in various initiatives to foster a supportive and empowering environment for women in STEM fields. Through participating in the SWE Leadership Shadow Program for Vice President, I have tailored my leadership abilities and feel prepared to take on the role of Vice President. Additionally, my dedication to volunteering for the Kids’ Science and Engineering Day for consecutive years has fueled my desire to elevate our programs further in the coming year. As a leader, I possess essential skills such as discipline, problem-solving, and attentive listening, which are crucial for driving positive change and fostering inclusivity within our community. I am eager to contribute my strengths to the growth and success of our SWE chapter.”

Treasurer

Hailey Boileau

“I am a sophomore in Computer Science at WSU and have been an active member of SWE since my freshman year. I served as SWEster Chair this past year and I loved getting to work with the women on this team. I also have other leadership experience, and I am the current project lead of our campus’ Engineers Without Borders as well as the standards chair for my sorority. I’m so excited to have the opportunity to serve as an officer again and to continue working towards a more inclusive and supportive community for women in STEM.”

Zoe Nguyen

“I believe in a flow of integration within the community inside and out of the classroom. Being involved with SWE has provided and created equal opportunities within engineering. Within my two years at WSU, I have been involved as a regular club member as well as a committee chair member for KSED2023, KSED2024, and EWI2023. Helping out with the major events for SWE was so rewarding in turn for the work that I put in. Other relevant prior experience I have is a professional background in project management as well as bookkeeping, specifically money management and working within timelines. “

Caitlin Graves

“Hello, I’m Caitlin, a Junior in Computer Science with Minors in Business Administration and Mathematics. A little bit about me is that I’m from Snoqualmie, WA and love doing all things outdoors from backpacking to kayaking. I’ve been a SWE shadow under Janvi, the Fundraising Chair, and would love to be able to use my design side to help with this position in the future. As for previous qualifications I’ve served as the Vice President of Community Service for the business club Delta Sigma Pi and within my major I have been a TA for a couple semesters. SWE has been a great resource for me to meet other people and to learn about other STEM majors. As a SWE officer I look forward to further supporting the SWE community in creating engaging events and workshops to empower women in the STEM field.”

Activities Coordinator

Sofia Keldsen

“I’ve been a part of SWE since the beginning of my freshman year and I was a SWE Shadow under our president, Chloe. As a Shadow I helped out with our recent WiSTEM week events as well as our dog toy making event. With the officer position, I would love the chance to give back to the club that has given me so many opportunities. “

Taylor Page

“I am a current SWE shadow under Haley, the SWEster program coordinator. I have been attending cabinet meetings and learning how to put on SWE events, assisting the other shadows in putting on a general meeting. I have been in various leadership positions and love working in a group environment. I am currently the Vice president of regents hall where I am in charge of planning and carrying out hall wide events while working alongside other regents hall gov members. I have loved getting to better know other SWE members through the SWEster program, being a shadow, and attending general meetings.”

Ani Rice

“SWE has been an amazing experience of my Freshman Year, and I am so excited to contribute to the club in a leadership role. As a current Undergraduate Research Assistant in a laboratory here at WSU, I believe I have the experience and skills to encourage other students to succeed. I have held leadership positions in my Residence Hall’s Government, as a Hall Ambassador for the WSU Office of Visitation and Recruitment, and a current SWE Shadow. I am very passionate about creating a community of support, doing cool activities, and having fun together. I hope you will consider voting for me in this election!”

“Hello, I’m Khushi Panchal, an enthusiastic international sophomore at WSU. With a Diploma in Information Technology and a perfect 4.0 GPA under my belt, I’ve taken on key roles such as the Marketing Communications and Multimedia Team Lead and Public Relations Officer at the XR/VR Club. My passion for technology drives me to seek out collaborative experiences and growth opportunities within the field. I’m eager to connect with fellow members of the Society of Women Engineering and contribute to our collective success. Let’s embark on this journey together✨”

Secretary

Jacqueline Taylor

“I am a junior civil engineering student interested in being a SWE officer next year! I am qualified because I have had leadership roles at multiple jobs and am currently a SWE Shadow (shadowing the Secretary). I want to be a SWE officer because I want to support other women in engineering through being involved in SWE. Being a part of SWE has given me a sense that I belong in engineering and I want other women to feel the same.”

Industry Mentor Coordinator

Julia Lee

“Hi, I’m Julia, a sophomore in computer science. I’m excited to run for the position of Industry Mentor Coordinator. Through my involvement in SWE, where I served on the registration committee for industry night and the operation/setup committee for KSED, I’ve gained valuable experience in event coordination and networking. I would be happy to connect students with mentors who can guide them in their career paths.”

SWEster Program Coordinator

Angela Cook

As the Fundraising Chair, I would provide unique and engaging opportunities to raise money for the club. As SWEster Program Coordinator I would create lasting memories through fun activities for both mentors and mentees. Previously, I have been the president of a Future Health Professionals Club as well as Vice President of a California Scholarship Federation Club. These experiences in leadership allowed me to learn how to coordinate multiple volunteer opportunities and organize events, managing many members at once. I have been greatly responsible in my duties and will apply my knowledge to either position if given the opportunity. More recently, I was a SWE Shadow for the Activities Coordinator, seeing the inner workings of the club, and I am excited about being a part of it next semester!
